StarPals is on the cutting edge of some truly exciting developments, made possible by new technological advances.
The November 14, 2007, video conference between the students at IASA in Jerusalem and the Latin School in Chicago was perhaps the first of its kind. Video conferencing is hardly a new idea; what's new is its accessibility. Transcending borders and boundaries via technology and connecting two classrooms clear across the planet from each other is a truly remarkable achievement! It was a first for us--but it won't be the last! And it will only continue to improve with time.
Currently we are looking to expand to other countries. We have been in contact with educators in China, Denmark, Canada, and England, and interest continues to grow as we, the pioneers, prove that this can be done!
The Double Stars research project is also an exciting first. I think we're in for a lot of those in the coming year! Collaborative research involving young, pre-college students, is a truly innovative concept. There are those who believe it can't be done. We believe it can. And we'd like to show that to the world.
Hang on tight, because it's bound to be an exciting ride!
